DSE Sees Broad-Based Gains in First Hour of Trade

Turnover eases slightly despite upbeat market sentiment

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened higher on Tuesday (September 2), with all key indices posting gains in the first hour of trading.

By 11:00am, two-thirds of the traded securities had advanced, although turnover showed signs of slowing compared to the previous day.

Market data show that the DSEX, the benchmark index of the bourse, rose 14 points to 5,598. The DS30 index, comprising blue-chip stocks, edged up by 1 point to 2,190, while the Shariah index (DSES) gained 5 points to reach 1,230.

Out of 389 issues traded till 11:00am, 215 advanced, 96 declined and 78 remained unchanged.

Turnover stood at Tk 337.48 crore, down from Tk 366.84 crore recorded in the same period a day earlier.

Khans Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited topped the turnover chart in the opening hour, contributing Tk 17.38 crore worth of transactions.
