The government has approved several major initiatives in citizen services, healthcare, and heritage infrastructure, following decisions taken Tuesday at the meeting of the Council Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired virtually by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.
The Ministry of ICT received clearance to implement citizen service activities at district and departmental levels under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM), aimed at improving service delivery and streamlining administration.
In healthcare, the Committee granted policy approval for the uninterrupted supply of GeneXpert Cartridges—used to detect new tuberculosis patients—under the National Tuberculosis Control Programme (NTP) until June 2026. Officials said the move is crucial to sustaining early detection and treatment nationwide.
The Committee also endorsed the construction of the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’, a project under the Public Works Department. Both civil and electrical-mechanical works will be carried out through the Open Tender Method (OTM) to ensure transparency.
Officials said the approvals reflect the government’s focus on strengthening public services, advancing healthcare, and preserving the nation’s historical heritage.
