Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Shakhawat Hossain has reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening ties with Denmark, particularly in the shipbuilding and port development sectors.

He made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Moller, who paid a courtesy call at his office in Dhaka.

The Danish envoy expressed Copenhagen’s interest in investing in Bangladesh’s shipbuilding industry and supporting the development of port infrastructure. Discussions also reviewed the progress of the Laldiar Char container terminal project in Patenga, Chattogram, which is being implemented with Danish assistance.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s investment outlook, the Adviser said the government is working to attract higher foreign direct investment. “A favourable investment climate currently prevails in Bangladesh, which offers promising opportunities for international partners like Denmark,” he noted.
