Photoshopped Card Circulates Online Claiming Chief Adviser Fled Through Back Door

Written by The Banking Post

A photoshopped card designed with the logo and layout of mainstream media outlet Kalbela has been circulated on social media, claiming that Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus “abandoned his travel companions and escaped through the back door.”

The card featured both the fabricated headline and Dr Yunus’s photo, falsely attributing the claim to the newspaper.

Fact-check

Rumor Scanner’s investigation found that Kalbela did not publish any news or photo card with the headline, “Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus abandoned his travel companions and fled through the back door.”

In reality, the widely shared image was fabricated by digitally editing a different Kalbela photo card.

At the beginning of the investigation, the doctored card was examined and found to carry Kalbela’s logo along with the publication date of September 22, 2025.

Following this lead, Rumor Scanner reviewed all photo cards posted on Kalbela’s official Facebook page on that date but found no trace of such a headline. Similarly, no report matching the claim appeared on Kalbela’s official website or YouTube channel.

However, a photo card posted on Kalbela’s Facebook page on September 23 was found to share striking similarities with the doctored one in circulation.

Upon examining the photo card, it was found that although it bears similarities with Kalbela’s original design, the headline is different.

In fact, the original headline—“Chief Adviser Arrives in New York”—was digitally replaced with the misleading caption, “Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus abandoned his travel companions and fled through the back door.”

Moreover, the font style used in the doctored headline differs from the standard fonts typically seen in Kalbela’s photo cards.

Additionally, the original Kalbela Facebook post containing the genuine photo card included a link in the comments section to a related video report published on the outlet’s official YouTube channel. That video did not provide any information supporting the fabricated headline.

Therefore, the photo card shared in the name of Kalbela, quoting the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, is edited and misleading.
