Sonali Life Insurance Company Limited, a listed insurer, has so far settled claims worth Tk 260 crore this year, its acting Managing Director Rafiqul Islam announced on Thursday.

Speaking at the company’s 12th anniversary celebration at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, he said another Tk 320 crore in claims is scheduled to be paid within the year. “We have the capacity, and Inshallah, we will deliver on this commitment,” he assured.

Rafiqul Islam said mistrust in the insurance sector has grown due to persistent negative rumors, but Sonali Life has set itself apart. “We are not a conventional insurer. By settling 100 percent of claims, we have built confidence among our policyholders. Our reach already spans across the country, but our goal is to serve every family,” he added.

Vice-Chairman Fauzia Kamrul Tania told the event, “Our aim is not just to achieve Tk 1,000 crore in premium income. Ensuring policyholder protection is our primary goal. Just as depositors trust the banking sector, we want policyholders to place the same trust in insurance.”

Director Sheikh Mohammad Daniel noted that the company is moving towards the vision of its late founder chairman, Mostafa Golam Kuddus. “He dreamed of settling claims within just seven days. We are working to make that dream a reality,” he said.
