The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is set to roll out an AI-enabled ESG compliance platform, titled the Digital Factory Passport (DFP), aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and global competitiveness across the country’s readymade garment (RMG) sector.
To develop and implement the initiative, BGMEA has entered into a strategic partnership with Digital Bridge Partners (DBP). The announcement was made during a meeting held Sunday at the BGMEA headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka.
The Digital Factory Passport will serve as a centralised digital framework to streamline factory-level data management and compliance reporting. It will also help reduce audit fatigue, improve sustainability monitoring, and ensure that factories meet evolving international buyer requirements.
By integrating artificial intelligence into the compliance process, the system aims to standardise data collection, minimise duplication of audits, and make ESG (environmental, social, and governance) performance assessments more efficient and credible.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted that digital innovation is crucial for the sector’s sustainability journey. “The garment industry must embrace technology and data-driven solutions to remain globally competitive and transparent,” he said.
The meeting was attended by BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, and senior representatives from Digital Bridge Partners, who pledged their continued support for the initiative.
DBP representatives said the project reflects a shared vision to strengthen the RMG industry’s digital ecosystem, enabling better traceability and performance benchmarking.
Once implemented, the Digital Factory Passport is expected to future-proof Bangladesh’s position as a leading global sourcing hub, ensuring that its factories remain compliant, efficient, and trusted by international buyers.
