BRAC Bank, in partnership with the Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association (BSAA), organised a workshop in Chattogram aimed at promoting seamless trade and payment solutions for the shipping industry.
Titled “Seamless Trade & Payment Solutions: Regulatory Compliance and Central Bank Reporting for Shipping Agents,” the workshop highlighted the crucial role of shipping agents in driving Bangladesh’s international trade. The sessions emphasised automation, efficient payment systems, regulatory compliance, and transparent reporting to ensure sustainable industry practices.
Md. Mokbul Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as the chief guest at Hotel Agrabad on September 17, 2025. Officials from Bangladesh Bank’s Chattogram office, including Arifuzzaman, Director, and Monirul Haider, Additional Director, were also present.
Industry representatives from BSAA, such as Amirul Huq, owner of Seacom Shipping, and Khairul Alam Shujan, joined along with other directors and members. BRAC Bank was represented by Kayesh Chowdhury, Head of Regional Corporate, AKM Faisal Halim, Head of Transaction Banking, and Taher Mridha, Head of Account Services, who addressed the audience on best practices for modernising trade and payment processes.
The workshop provided a platform for knowledge-sharing, regulatory guidance, and adoption of digital solutions, aiming to strengthen operational efficiency and compliance across the shipping sector.
