France Eyes Bigger Investment Push in Bangladesh

Pharmaceutical and ICT sectors highlighted as priority areas for expansion

Written by The Banking Post

France has expressed strong interest in widening its investment presence in Bangladesh, with particular focus on the pharmaceutical and ICT sectors.

The commitment came during a meeting between French Ambassador Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet and Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at the Ministry of Commerce on Monday. Their discussion centred on the future of bilateral trade and broader economic cooperation, according to an official statement.

The ambassador noted that France has long been working to deepen trade relations with Bangladesh. He said French companies are increasingly keen to explore new opportunities, especially in pharmaceuticals and Information and Communication Technology—two areas he described as having strong potential for investment growth.

Welcoming France’s interest, Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin acknowledged the European nation as an important and longstanding trade partner. He added that both countries have significant room to expand trade volumes further, given the evolving opportunities in Bangladesh’s investment landscape.
