The government has lowered retail fuel prices by Tk 2 per litre from January 1, rolling back the hike introduced a month earlier under the automatic fuel pricing system.
According to a notification issued by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division late Wednesday, diesel now sells at Tk 102 per litre, while octane, petrol and kerosene are priced at Tk 122, Tk 118 and Tk 114 per litre, respectively.
The reduction reverses the Tk 2-per-litre increase that came into effect on December 1, when fuel prices were raised to Tk 104 for diesel, Tk 124 for octane, Tk 120 for petrol and Tk 116 for kerosene.
Officials said domestic fuel prices are revised every month in line with global market trends under the revised automatic pricing guidelines. The latest adjustment, they added, is aimed at keeping fuel prices comparatively affordable for consumers while reflecting movements in the international market.
