Ferry services on the busy Paturia–Daulatdia river route resumed on Friday morning after being suspended for about seven hours due to dense fog that severely reduced visibility.
Operations restarted around 10:00 am as weather conditions improved, allowing vessels to safely move across the river. Two ferries that had remained anchored midstream during the suspension later reached the terminals without incident, while stranded vehicles began crossing soon after.
A BIWTC official said ferry movement on both the Paturia–Daulatdia and Aricha–Kazirhat routes had been halted from 3:00 am because of poor visibility. At the time, three ferries were stuck in mid-river and seven others, carrying passengers and vehicles, were held at the terminals.
With the fog lifting in the morning, normal services resumed, easing congestion at the four affected terminals and restoring traffic flow on the key river crossings.
