Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has increased internet speeds across all its existing packages by up to three times without raising monthly charges, offering customers significantly faster connections at the same price.
The move, announced on Sunday by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, is aimed at improving access to digital services such as online education, remote work, video streaming and gaming.
Under the revised structure, several popular packages have been upgraded. The Tk 399 Sulov-5 package has been replaced with Shasroyi-20, delivering 20 Mbps instead of 5 Mbps. The Tk 500 Sulov-12 package now offers 25 Mbps under Shasroyi-25, while the Tk 500 Campus-15 plan has been upgraded to Campus-50, providing 50 Mbps.
Higher-tier packages have also seen substantial boosts. The Tk 800 Sulov-15 plan now delivers 50 Mbps, the Tk 1,050 Sulov-20 has been upgraded to 100 Mbps, and the Tk 1,150 Sulov-25 now offers 120 Mbps. Customers on the Tk 1,300 Sulov-30 package will receive 130 Mbps, while the Tk 1,500 Sulov-40 and Tk 1,700 Sulov-50 plans have been enhanced to 150 Mbps and 170 Mbps, respectively.
BTCL said the upgrade is part of its broader effort to make internet services more affordable and digital-friendly, while maintaining price stability for users. The state-owned operator added that it plans to continue rolling out customer-focused initiatives to ensure reliable and high-quality internet connectivity in the future.
