Bangladesh’s stock markets moved in opposite directions in the first half of trading on the second working day of the week, with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) slipping into negative territory while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) posted modest gains.
At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index fell 7 points, while the blue-chip DS30 lost 3 points. The Shariah-based DSES index remained flat. Market breadth was weak, as prices of 195 companies declined against 101 gainers, with 90 issues unchanged.
Turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 2.10 billion by midday, indicating cautious participation from investors.
In contrast, the CSE saw a positive trend. The broader CASPI index gained 16 points, supported by advances in 38 stocks against 34 losers, while 21 issues traded unchanged.
