The country’s two stock exchanges will operate on shorter schedules during Ramadan, cutting daily trading by 40 minutes in line with regulatory instructions.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) said share trading will run from 10:00am to 1:50pm throughout the holy month. The schedule includes a 10-minute post-closing session.
Under the regular timetable, trading continues until 2:30pm, also with a 10-minute post-closing session.
The adjustment follows a directive from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), prompting the bourses to scale back both trading and administrative operations.
Office hours during Ramadan will run from 9:00am to 3:30pm, one hour shorter than the usual closing time of 4:30pm.
Normal trading and office schedules will resume after Ramadan. Trading will revert to 10:00am–2:30pm, including the post-closing session, while office hours will return to 9:00am–4:30pm.
