The central bank has revised office hours for finance companies in observance of Ramadan, asking institutions to follow a shortened schedule throughout the holy month.
In a circular issued on Monday, the Bangladesh Bank said all finance companies must operate from 9:30am to 4:00pm, Sunday through Thursday, from the first day of Ramadan.
The schedule includes a 15-minute break from 1:15pm to 1:30pm for Zuhr prayers.
The directive was issued by the Department of Financial Institutions and Markets (DFIM) to help accommodate employees and clients during the fasting period.
Managing directors and chief executive officers of banks and finance companies have been instructed to implement the revised timings immediately.
Office hours will return to the regular pre-Ramadan schedule after the conclusion of the month.
