The Customs House in Chattogram has moved to auction goods stored in 378 containers at Chattogram Port as part of efforts to ease container congestion and improve port operations.

The auctions will be conducted through a fully digital e-auction system, allowing bidders to participate online while ensuring transparency in the process.

According to a media release, 180 containers grouped into 49 lots will be auctioned under E-Auction-2/2026, following Special Order No. 82/2025 issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR). The items include chemicals, machinery, plastic scrap, art paper, bitumen, fabrics, household goods and vehicle parts. No reserve price has been set for these consignments.

Another 198 containers divided into 74 lots will be sold under E-Auction-3/2026 in line with NBR Standing Order No. 91/Customs/2025/123. Goods in this batch include capital machinery, passenger elevators, metal scrap and kraft liner paper.

Authorities said the move is part of an ongoing drive to dispose of uncleared and auctionable goods, reduce security risks from container backlogs and prevent wastage of state assets.

Interested bidders can inspect the goods throughout March and submit bids online through the Bangladesh Customs e-auction portal. They must also deposit pay orders as security along with the required documents.

The tender box for E-Auction-2/2026 will be opened at 2:00pm on March 31, while the tender box for E-Auction-3/2026 will be opened at 2:00pm on April 8.

Officials said similar auctions will be held in phases to help reduce container congestion at Chattogram Port.
