Gold prices surged sharply on Tuesday, with 22-carat gold climbing by Tk 3,266 per bhori, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS). The new rate of Tk 244,711 per bhori (11.664 grams) is effective immediately.

The association attributed the increase to a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market, prompting adjustments across other gold grades. Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 233,572 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 200,213, and traditionally produced gold at Tk 163,063 per bhori.

Earlier, on March 28, the price of 22-carat gold had jumped by Tk 4,433 per bhori to Tk 241,445. So far in 2026, gold rates in Bangladesh have been adjusted 50 times—29 increases and 21 reductions.

Silver prices also rose, with 22-carat silver up by Tk 350 to Tk 5,715 per bhori. The new rates for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional silver stand at Tk 5,424, Tk 4,666, and Tk 3,499 per bhori respectively. In 2026, silver prices have changed 30 times, including 17 increases and 13 decreases.

The continued upward trend reflects both global market movements and strong local demand.
