ECNEC Clears Five Projects Worth Tk 4.83b

Government boosts funding for infrastructure, health, and IT initiatives

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved five development projects involving a total investment of Tk 4.83 billion, signalling continued public spending on infrastructure and social sectors.

The approval came at the 9th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year, chaired by Tarique Rahman, marking the first such meeting under the present government.

Of the মোট project cost, Tk 3.91 billion will come from the government’s own funds, while Tk 925.9 million will be financed through loans or grants.

Among the key projects, the General Social Infrastructure Development Project-2 (GSIDP-2), implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department, received a revised allocation of Tk 1,450 crore with a completion target set for June 2027.

The IT Training and Incubation Center project also saw a significant cost revision, now standing at Tk 533.55 crore, with its timeline extended to June 2026.

In the health sector, funding for the modernization of diagnostic imaging facilities at eight divisional medical college hospitals has been raised to Tk 1,213.7 crore, with completion pushed to June 2028.

Meanwhile, the Establishment of Gopalganj Dental College and Hospital project received a revised budget of Tk 139.31 crore, while the Char Development and Settlement Project-4 (CDSP-4) saw its cost reduced to Tk 30.72 crore.

Officials said the approved projects reflect a continued focus on improving public service delivery, strengthening healthcare capacity, and supporting digital and regional development.
