Gold prices in Bangladesh fell sharply on Thursday, reversing part of the previous day’s surge as local rates of pure gold declined.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,432 per bhori, bringing it down to Tk 247,977 with immediate effect.

Other categories also saw notable reductions. The price of 21-carat gold fell by Tk 4,199 to Tk 236,721 per bhori, while 18-carat gold dropped Tk 3,616 to Tk 202,895. Traditionally processed gold was reduced by Tk 2,916 to Tk 165,289 per bhori.

The adjustment comes just a day after a steep hike of Tk 6,590 per bhori, highlighting ongoing volatility in the domestic gold market.

So far this year, gold prices have been revised 54 times, with 31 increases and 23 decreases.

Silver prices were also lowered alongside gold. The price of 22-carat silver fell by Tk 175 to Tk 5,715 per bhori, while rates for 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver were set at Tk 5,424, Tk 4,666 and Tk 3,499 respectively.

In 2026, silver prices have been adjusted 33 times, reflecting a similar pattern of frequent fluctuations in precious metal markets.
