The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has signed cooperation agreements with three Chinese business bodies to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.
The deals were inked in Guangdong with the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers & Exporters, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products, and the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce for Outbound Business.
DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury signed the agreements on behalf of the chamber.
The signing took place alongside the “Trade Bridge-Bangladesh Matchmaking Event” at the Canton Fair, where the DCCI delegation held meetings with around 270 Chinese companies.
Speaking at the event, Chowdhury said China remains a key global trading power and a major partner for Bangladesh, with imports reaching about $18 billion last year. He noted that China is also among the top foreign investors in Bangladesh.
He highlighted strong potential for collaboration in sectors such as agro-processing, infrastructure, renewable energy, shipbuilding, automotive, and high-tech industries, alongside emerging areas like fintech, artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
Chinese business leaders also underscored opportunities for deeper engagement, particularly in manufacturing and regional trade expansion.
Officials said the agreements are expected to facilitate knowledge exchange, promote joint ventures and open new avenues for business cooperation between the two countries.
