Gold prices in Bangladesh dropped significantly on Thursday, as jewellers revised rates in line with changes in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 246,927.
Prices of other categories also declined. The rate for 21-carat gold fell by Tk 3,149 to Tk 235,671 per bhori, while 18-carat gold dropped by Tk 2,683 to Tk 202,020. Gold produced under the traditional method was cut by Tk 2,216 to Tk 164,521 per bhori.
BAJUS said the adjustment reflects a fall in the price of pure gold in the domestic market and overall market conditions.
The latest revision comes just days after a price hike on April 15, when 22-carat gold rose to Tk 250,193 per bhori.
So far this year, gold prices have been revised 56 times, indicating continued volatility in the market.
Silver prices also declined. The rate for 22-carat silver fell by Tk 350 to Tk 5,715 per bhori, with similar reductions across other categories.
Market observers say frequent price adjustments reflect ongoing fluctuations in both domestic supply conditions and global trends.
