Betopia Group, one of Bangladesh’s fast-growing technology companies, has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform itself from an IT outsourcing firm into a global enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) company, aiming to position Bangladesh among Asia’s leading AI economies by 2030.

Founded in 2017 with just seven employees and an initial investment of Tk 500,000, the company has expanded into a technology group with 22 business ventures, around 5,000 employees and operations in 80 countries. It now generates annual revenue of about $36 million (over Tk 350 crore).

Under its Vision 2030 strategy, Betopia plans to build an AI-powered technology ecosystem by integrating autonomous AI solutions across its businesses and developing a dedicated technology city for deep-tech engineers.

“Our employees are the driving force behind our growth,” said Betopia Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Monir Hossain. “We want to build technologies in Bangladesh that can compete globally while creating sustainable, high-quality jobs for the country’s young professionals.”

The company currently operates businesses including Betopia Limited, Softvence, Sparktech Agency, SM Technology, JVAI, Zenexcloud, Backbencher Studio, ScaleUp, Bdcalling, PulseGrid, FIRE AI and several other technology ventures.

From freelancer to global entrepreneur

Monir Hossain, a graduate of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), began his career as a freelancer after losing his job. Starting with web development projects on global freelance platforms, he gradually built a team before launching Bdcalling IT in 2017.

Today, Betopia serves clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, while maintaining offices in five countries. The company is also expanding into Africa, where it has already begun working with a government agency.

“After doing business in several developed countries, including the United States, we are now expanding into Africa,” Hossain said. “We believe there is a promising market for us there.”

Integrated technology solutions

Unlike conventional software companies, Betopia offers integrated hardware, software and consulting services under a single platform, allowing clients to source complete enterprise technology solutions from one provider.

The group is Bangladesh’s official Odoo Silver Partner and maintains technology partnerships with Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, Dell, Cisco, HPE, Fortinet, Oracle and Red Hat.

Among its international projects is VLARPRO, a digital platform developed for US military veterans that simplifies disability claims processing through an integrated online system.

The company says it focuses on solving operational challenges across sectors including fintech, legal technology, healthcare, education, manufacturing and supply chain management.

Building AI capability

Betopia has invested in GPU-powered computing infrastructure to support enterprise AI development and deploy AI models on NVIDIA-based systems.

The company is using the infrastructure to develop machine learning, enterprise automation and AI-driven business solutions for international clients.

“When our engineers say they have built AI infrastructure, they mean it,” Hossain said. “We did not acquire the capacity to talk about AI. We built the capacity to deliver it.”

Policy support needed

Hossain said Bangladesh has the engineering talent needed to become a regional AI leader but requires supportive policies to accelerate growth.

He identified three priorities: investment in world-class AI infrastructure, a more competitive regulatory environment for technology companies, and stronger collaboration between industry, universities and the government to develop AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity skills.

“The private sector has demonstrated what is possible. We have built companies, trained engineers and earned the trust of international clients,” he said.

“The next stage of growth depends on creating the right environment for innovation. If we invest in world-class infrastructure, modern policies and future-ready talent today, Bangladesh can become one of Asia’s leading AI and technology economies.”

Vision for Betopia City

As part of its long-term strategy, Betopia plans to develop “Betopia City”—a technology-focused urban hub combining data centres, corporate offices, innovation centres, educational institutions and residential facilities.

The company aims to create employment opportunities for tens of thousands of Bangladeshi technology professionals by 2030 through its expanding AI ecosystem and broader innovation network.
