bKash Tk 1,300 Bonus Claim is Fake: Beware of Scam

Written by The Banking Post

Recently, a message claiming “To celebrate bKash reaching 130 million customers, everyone is getting a Tk 1,300 bonus absolutely free! Anyone with a bKash account will receive this bonus!” has been spreading across social media.

Moreover, a search on the Meta Ad Library reveals that, at the time this report was published, around 560 ads promoting the said claim were actively running.

Fact-check

Rumor Scanner Team’s investigation reveals that bKash has made no official announcement about giving BDT 1,300 bonus to everyone to celebrate reaching 130 million users. Instead, this claim is being used as bait through fake websites aimed at scamming users.

At the beginning of the investigation, the Rumor Scanner Team visited the websites linked in the viral posts. Upon entering the site, they found the bKash logo displayed at the top, along with a headline that read:

“Special Bonus on the Occasion of 130 Million Users | Celebrating bKash’s remarkable milestone — each customer receives BDT 1,300 free bonus — no account verification or charges required!”

In the detailed offer section, it further stated:

“The offer is only valid for legitimate and active bKash account holders. Each mobile number will receive BDT 1,300 as ‘Bonus Balance’ once. The bonus will be credited within 24 hours of claiming. The bonus can be used for Send Money, Mobile Recharge, and Bill Payment. bKash reserves the right to suspend the offer at any time in case of suspicious or fraudulent transactions.”

ust above the detailed section of the offer, a hyperlinked phrase labeled “Click here to get the bonus” can be seen.

Scrolling further down the webpage, there appears a section titled “User Comments”, where multiple individuals have commented claiming that they received the money, reinforcing the false impression that the bonus is real.

Clicking on the hyperlinked phrase “Click here to get the bonus” redirects the user to a new page. On this page, it reads:

“Congratulations dear customer! Please fill out the form below with accurate information. The bKash number you want to withdraw money to must be active. A verification code will be sent to your bKash number.”

After that, the page asks for the user’s bKash number and PIN.

If a user enters their bKash number but inputs an incorrect PIN, the page redirects again to another new page — indicating that the intention is not verification, but likely phishing or data theft.

On the newly opened page, the Rumor Scanner Team observed several critical issues:

  1. The interface of the new page is an exact replica of bKash’s payment interface, mimicking its design to mislead users.
  2. Although the claim promised the investigator would receive Tk 1,300, the interface instead appears to be one for sending money, not receiving it.
  3. Most notably, instead of showing any official bKash gateway or payment authority, the payment gateway section displays the name “Rubel Telecom” — a clear indication that this is not an official bKash page.

These observations strongly suggest that the page is part of a fraudulent scheme, designed to trick users into unknowingly sending money rather than receiving a bonus.

After confirming the number, an OTP (One-Time Password) is sent, and the user is asked to enter it. However, for security reasons, the Rumor Scanner investigator did not proceed beyond this step.

Further investigation was conducted to check whether bKash had announced any bonus of Tk 1,300 for all users to celebrate reaching 130 million customers. Relevant keyword searches on bKash’s official website, Facebook page, and other trusted sources found no reliable evidence supporting the claim.

Therefore, the circulated claim that bKash is giving everyone Tk 1,300 as a bonus for reaching 130 million customers is completely false and fabricated.
