Bank Asia hosts SME entrepreneurship workshop in Rangpur

Workshop highlights SME loan challenges as Bank Asia reports Tk177cr disbursed to 3,274 entrepreneurs under BB refinance scheme.

Bank Asia PLC held a daylong entrepreneurship development workshop for SME entrepreneurs at the RDRS auditorium in Rangpur on August 9, aiming to boost business growth and improve access to finance.

Md Mahbubul Haque, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, attended as chief guest, while Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, deputy managing director of Bank Asia, chaired the session.

Participants from across the Rangpur region discussed challenges in the loan application process, urging authorities to make it faster and more convenient. Discussions highlighted Bank Asia’s credit support programs to empower small businesses.

Under the Bangladesh Bank refinance scheme Supporting Post-Covid-19 Small Scale Employment Creation Project, Bank Asia’s Agent Banking Division has disbursed Tk177 crore to 3,274 SME entrepreneurs.

The event was also attended by senior officials from Bangladesh Bank and Bank Asia, including Md Sagar Sarkar, Md Mehedi Hasan Shohag, Md Mahbubul Hasan, and Ahmed Nure Habiba.
