In the first 17 days of August, Bangladesh received more than USD 1.619 billion in remittances (over Tk 19,642 crore, calculated at Tk 122 per dollar).
However, during this period, eight banks reported zero remittance inflows, according to the latest Bangladesh Bank report.
The central bank data shows that of the USD 1.619 billion received between 1–17 August:
- State-owned banks handled USD 493.3 million
- Specialized banks (including Bangladesh Krishi Bank, which alone accounted for USD 150 million) received a notable share
- Private banks facilitated USD 962.76 million
- Foreign banks brought in USD 3.13 million
Banks With No Remittance Inflows
- Specialized bank: Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB)
- Private banks: Community Bank, Citizens Bank, ICB Islamic Bank, Padma Bank, and Shimanto Bank
- Foreign banks: Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India
In comparison, during the first month of FY2025–26 (July), remittance inflows stood at USD 2.479 billion (around Tk 30,239 crore). Earlier, the highest-ever monthly inflow was recorded in March 2025, with USD 3.29 billion—a record for the year.
For the full fiscal year 2024–25, Bangladesh received USD 30.33 billion in remittances, marking a 26.8% increase from the previous year. By contrast, in FY2023–24, total remittance inflows were USD 23.91 billion.
