The Asia Foundation and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will work together to enhance skills and promote a sustainable work environment for female workers in the RMG sector.
A delegation from the Asia Foundation met BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara on Saturday to discuss collaboration on skill development, leadership growth, and worker well-being.
The delegation included Country Representative Kazi Faisal Bin Seraj, Program Director Aini Islam, and Communications Lead Kashfia Kais.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted the garment industry’s pivotal role in Bangladesh’s economy and stressed the importance of partnerships with international organizations to ensure female workers’ safety and welfare.
Proposed initiatives include training programs, health and safety measures, mid-level management development, community-based daycare facilities, and circularity practices in the garment industry. Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration would make Bangladesh’s garment sector more humane and sustainable.
