Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, announced that Bangladesh collected Tk 368,177 crore in revenue in the 2024–25 fiscal year, up to June 30.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, July 7, during a visit to the Dhaka Customs House, Khan said that revenue officials are performing their duties as usual and that there’s no reason to fear any disruption in collections. “There’s no panic over revenue performance—the NBR operates under clear government directives,” he added.

Khan noted that employees who follow established procedures have nothing to worry about, but those who breach operational boundaries will be monitored closely.

He also highlighted the upcoming rollout of an automated e-challan system for customs duty payments. “This digital channel will reduce complications in cargo clearance and ensure direct deposits to the government treasury,” he said. The system is expected to be fully operational within a week.
