In June, the Government of Bangladesh made a one-time payment of $437 million to Adani Power, fully settling all outstanding dues up to March 31, 2025, according to officials.

This is the largest single payment Adani Power has ever received from Bangladesh. Previously, the company received between $90–100 million per month on average.

The full dues related to electricity supplied by India’s Adani Power have now been cleared. The lump sum paid in June covered all pending amounts up to March. All issues related to transmission costs and the power purchase agreement have also been resolved.

Currently, Bangladesh has no pending dues to Adani Power. In fact, it has opened a Letter of Credit (LC) equivalent to two months of power bills and issued a sovereign guarantee for any remaining liabilities.

With no outstanding payments, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has requested Adani Power to maintain the supply of electricity from both 800MW units of its Godda power plant in Jharkhand as per contract.

Over the past three to four months, Bangladesh had been making monthly payments of around $90–100 million.

Following full settlement, Adani Power has been instructed to keep both units operational to meet BPDB’s demand.

Under the terms of the agreement, any late fees would be waived if dues were cleared by June 30. Bangladesh met the deadline and secured this waiver. To ensure timely payments going forward, the government has opened an LC worth $180 million and provided a state guarantee for the remaining dues.

As of May 2025, Bangladesh’s total dues to Adani Power had reached nearly $900 million. According to the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Dilip Jha, Bangladesh paid $1.2 billion by the end of FY2025, including an additional $136 million in late payment fees.
