Bangladesh has invited US companies to invest in data centres, cloud services and broader digital infrastructure as part of its drive to accelerate digital transformation.

The call came from Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and ICT, during a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Tracy Anne Jacobson at ICT Tower on Thursday.

Taiyeb said the soon-to-be-launched World Bank-supported Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) project would open new avenues for global collaboration and private-sector engagement. He emphasised Bangladesh’s ambition to become a regional hub for technology and innovation, highlighting the importance of international partnerships.

Discussions also covered the Personal Data Protection Act, data governance and upgrading police communications systems.

Jacobson praised Bangladesh’s progress on digitalisation and pledged continued US technical assistance and expertise to support ICT sector growth.

ICT Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, US Embassy Deputy Counsellor for Political/Economic Affairs David Mu, and Commercial Counsellor Paul Frost attended the meeting.
