BRAC Bank, VisionSpring, and MBM Group jointly celebrated World Sight Day 2025 at Cutting Edge Industries Limited, a concern of MBM Group, according to a press release.
The event was organised by MBM Group to mark the occasion with BRAC Bank, which facilitated the eye screening of their factory workers over the past one month in collaboration with VisionSpring under its flagship CSR initiative ‘Aporajeyo Ami’.
World Sight Day is observed annually on the second Thursday of October. This event followed a significant milestone: the successful eye screening of 4,910 factory workers at Cutting Edge Industries Limited. Among those screened, 1,896 workers needed corrective glasses, and 1,573 received their first pair. For many, this was their first experience of seeing the world in a new light, and this change is already improving their comfort and productivity at work, enhancing their overall well-being.
During the event, an impact survey was presented, highlighting significant improvements among workers who received glasses, including reduced headaches and eye strain, sharper visual clarity, and enhanced focus at work. Some workers shared heartfelt testimonials about how the programme transformed their daily lives, both on and off the factory floor, inspiring hope and optimism.
Senior officials from BRAC Bank, MBM Group, and VisionSpring attended the event. They interacted with the workers, encouraging them to prioritise their eye health.
BRAC Bank was represented by Md. Shaheen Iqbal, FCA, Deputy Managing Director & Head of Treasury, FI and Corporate & Institutional Banking, as well as S M Musa, Area Head – 2, Regional Corporate Dhaka, among others.
From MBM Group, Deputy Managing Director Mohammed Mehroz Jalil, Deputy General Manager (HR, CEIL) Sagor Kumar Podder, and Deputy General Manager (Compliance) Jannatul Ferdous Eva were present.
VisionSpring was represented by its Country Director for Bangladesh, Misha Mahjabeen, along with other senior officials.
During the event, VisionSpring awarded MBM Group the prestigious ‘Clear Vision Workplace’ certificate. This certificate recognises the organisation’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every worker at its factory receives vision screenings and corrective glasses as needed, thereby creating a safe and healthy work environment.
Since last year, BRAC Bank and VisionSpring have jointly screened the eyes of nearly 60,000 workers among the bank’s corporate RMG clients.
