Chattogram Port’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) has set a new record in container handling, crossing the 5,000 TEUs mark in a single day for the first time.

From 8am on 28 August to 8am on 29 August, the terminal, operated by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL), handled 5,019 TEUs — including 2,101 import containers and 2,918 export containers, according to figures released by the port authority on Friday.

The overall pace of operations has also quickened. In August, container handling at Chattogram Port rose by nearly 40%, averaging 3,903 TEUs daily. Over 28 days, NCT alone handled 109,217 TEUs across berths 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Since taking over operations on 7 July, CDDL has managed 174,931 TEUs in its first 49 days. That compares with 119,276 TEUs handled by the previous operator during a similar period, reflecting a 46.7% increase in throughput.
