Chinese Firm to Invest $10.47m in BEPZA Economic Zone

Baishili Household to set up manufacturing plant in Mirsharai’s BEPZA EZ, producing 21.4m units annually and creating 989 local jobs.

Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co. Ltd., a Chinese-owned company, will invest US$10.47 million to set up a household products and bag manufacturing facility in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsharai, Chattogram.

The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Baishili Household signed an agreement on Tuesday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman attended the ceremony, where Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion), signed on behalf of BEPZA, and Sun Rundong, Chairman of Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co. Ltd., represented the company.

The factory will have an annual production capacity of 21.41 million units of household storage, decoration, and related products, alongside various types of bags. The project is expected to create jobs for 989 Bangladeshi workers.

Welcoming the investment, the BEPZA Executive Chairman urged the company to begin construction promptly, ensure efficient land use, and integrate environmental measures such as rooftop solar panels and rainwater harvesting.

Senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) A.N.M. Foyzul Haque, and other directors, along with Baishili representatives, were present at the signing.
