A Chinese electronics manufacturer is setting up shop in Bangladesh with plans to produce bluetooth headphones, wired headphones, and data cables.

Direction Technology (Bangladesh) Co. Limited has signed an investment agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a $3 million plant in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). The project is expected to generate jobs for 478 local workers, according to officials.

Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Li Fanfan, Managing Director of the company, signed the agreement in the presence of BEPZA’s Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.

Welcoming the investment, the BEPZA chief said the initiative highlights Bangladesh’s growing foothold in technology-oriented manufacturing. “While our reputation is built on apparel, we are committed to diversifying exports and expanding into higher-value sectors,” he said.

Industry insiders believe the project could add a new dimension to the country’s electronics export basket, complementing its traditional textile and garment dominance.
