Dhaka, July 28, 2025 — City Bank Ltd has reported a 34% year-on-year surge in net profit for the April–June quarter of 2025, driven by increased investment income from government securities.

According to a disclosure filed with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday, the bank’s consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 1.55 for the second quarter, up from Tk 1.16 in the same period last year.

For the first half of 2025, City Bank posted a consolidated EPS of Tk 2.23, marking a 20.54% increase from Tk 1.85 recorded during the corresponding period in 2024.

In its statement, the bank attributed the profit growth to strategic investments in government securities, which significantly boosted investment income. This, the bank said, helped cushion the impact of declining net interest income and rising operational expenses.
