Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a cautious start on Thursday, the week’s last trading day, with indices showing mixed performance and turnover slowing in the opening hour.
By 11:00 am, the benchmark DSEX index edged up 3 points to 5,635, while the Shariah index (DSES) gained 2 points to 1,235. In contrast, the blue-chip DS30 index slipped 2 points to 2,193.
Market data shows that of the 387 securities traded during this period, 199 advanced, 99 declined, and 89 remained unchanged.
Turnover stood at Tk378.22 crore in the first hour—down sharply from Tk517.81 crore recorded at the same time on Wednesday, marking a decline of Tk139.59 crore.
City Bank shares once again dominated trading, contributing Tk21.83 crore in turnover in the first hour. The stock was also the most traded on Wednesday, when it logged Tk36.64 crore within the same period.
