Here is the English translation of the article:

After completing his studies in Finance and Banking from Jahangirnagar University in 2016, Pulok Mojumder worked as an officer at a private bank. He then fell seriously ill and was bedridden at home for nearly three years, suffering from both jaundice and thyroid disease.

After recovering, he had the opportunity to return to banking. However, he wanted a job he could do from home. It was then that the COVID-19 pandemic began.

During this time, Pulok learned about freelancing. He discovered the Fiverr marketplace, where skilled workers never lack for jobs, and which also offered the opportunity to work from home.

He plunged into learning the freelancing profession on his own – from YouTube to discussions with friends. He kept learning and acquiring knowledge, eventually becoming skilled and finding work opportunities.

He ultimately did not return to banking. Now working as a full-time freelancer, he earns around 1.5 to 2 lakh Taka per month.

The Beginning
Pulok Mojumdar passed his SSC in 2007 from Induhati NC Secondary School in Terokhada Upazila, Khulna, and his HSC in 2009 from Khulna Public College. He moved to Dhaka in 2010. He completed his studies in Finance and Banking from Jahangirnagar University in 2016.

His father, Dilip Mojumder, is a businessman. His mother, Sumati Mojumder, is a homemaker. His wife, Chandana Bishwas, is also a homemaker. They have a seven-month-old daughter named Shreya Mojumdar. They live in Pathalia, Savar, Dhaka.

Pulok Mojumdar says, “In 2017, I joined United Commercial Bank as a Probationary Officer. I quit the job after a year due to illness. No one thought I would survive. By the grace of the Creator, I recovered after three years of treatment. I thought I would re-enter banking. But then came the global COVID-19 pandemic. Hearing the term ‘freelancing’ during the pandemic, I started researching it.”

Starting Freelancing
Pulok Mojumdar created his profile on Fiverr in June 2021. He says, “I chose as my work areas: book writing, course writing, presentation creation, book advertising creation, and video course creation. I started getting work from November of the same year. Since then, my income has been increasing. I earn between 1.5 and 2 lakh Taka per month now.”

International Recognition
Pulok was contacted by many. A personal connection started with one client, Andries Bess. In 2024, Andries invited Pulok to the “Youth Summit on Peace and Sustainable Future” international conference in Montpellier, France, as Bangladesh’s representative.

Pulok went to France as Bangladesh’s representative and attended the conference on July 21, 2024. Over 400 youths from more than 34 countries attended the summit, sponsored by UNESCO and four other organizations.

Skill School
After returning from France, Pulok and three friends co-founded the “Skill School”, a training center for freelancing and spoken English in Nabinagar, Savar. Currently, there are over 50 trainees here, learning freelancing and spoken English to build their own careers.

Pulok Mojumdar is a Level Two Seller on the Fiverr marketplace. To date, he has completed nearly 250 projects, working on book writing, course writing, presentation creation, book advertising creation, and video course creation.

Overcoming Doubts
Pulok Mojumdar says, “When the banking job opportunity came again but I didn’t take it, I had to hear many things from many people. ‘Why didn’t you take such a good job? What will you do now? This is nothing but madness.’ Some even started thinking I was crazy. But after COVID started, I didn’t have to hear these things as much.

However, those same people now say it was a very good move. Now, because of my work, I’ve had the opportunity to travel abroad. So, from my position, I can say I have succeeded.”

Future Plans
Regarding future plans, Pulok Mojumdar says, “Currently, I am a freelancer and co-founder of Skill School Training Center. The future plan is to take my training center (Skill School) much further. To provide students with genuine knowledge so that they, too, can achieve great success as freelancers.”
