Microsoft has unveiled plans to invest $30 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure and operations in Britain between 2025 and 2028 — its largest financial commitment to the country so far.
The package includes $15 billion in capital spending to expand the UK’s cloud and AI infrastructure, with the rest allocated to research, AI model and product development, video-game creation, data-centre operations, and customer support, the company said Tuesday, citing Xinhua.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed the announcement as “a powerful vote of confidence in the UK’s leadership in AI and cutting-edge technology,” saying it will boost high-skill jobs, reinforce digital infrastructure, and keep Britain at the forefront of global innovation.
