Midland Bank, NSU join hands to boost financial literacy

Seminar highlights inclusion, access to finance, and smart decision-making

Midland Bank PLC, in partnership with North South University’s Career & Placement Centre (CPC), organised a financial literacy seminar on September 23 at NSU’s Syndicate Hall. The event aimed to raise awareness among students and future professionals about financial inclusion, sustainable development, and informed financial decision-making.

The seminar was chaired by NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, while Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC) Professor Dr Abdur Rob Khan delivered the welcome address.

Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director Rup Ratan Pine attended as chief guest, and Midland Bank’s Managing Director and CEO Md Ahsan-uz Zaman was present as special guest. The session was moderated by Professor Dr Md Taufiqul Islam, Director of CPC, and attended by faculty members along with a large number of students.

Speakers highlighted the importance of financial literacy as a tool for empowering the younger generation and ensuring wider financial inclusion. They stressed the need for better access to finance, awareness of banking services, and the ability to make smart financial choices.

Senior Midland Bank officials, including Md Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution and Chief Bancassurance Officer, and Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, Manager of the Financial Literacy Wing, also joined the session.

As part of the initiative, Midland Bank set up an awareness booth on the NSU campus from September 22 to 24 to introduce students and faculty to its products and services.
