Midland Bank PLC has partnered with North South University (NSU) to promote financial literacy among students and young professionals, aiming to strengthen financial inclusion and sustainable economic development.
The collaboration was marked by a seminar held on 23 September 2025 at NSU’s Syndicate Hall, jointly organised with the university’s Career & Placement Centre (CPC).
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury chaired the session, while Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC) Professor Dr Abdur Rob Khan delivered the welcome address.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Rup Ratan Pine attended as the chief guest, and Midland Bank’s Managing Director & CEO, Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, joined as the special guest. The seminar was moderated by CPC Director Professor Dr Md Taufiqul Islam and attended by faculty members along with a large number of students.
From Midland Bank, senior officials including Md Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution Division and Chief Bancassurance Officer, and Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, Manager of the Financial Literacy Wing, also took part in the discussion.
Speakers underscored the importance of financial literacy in making informed decisions, accessing finance, and building resilience for the future. They also highlighted its role in advancing sustainable economic growth and empowering the younger generation.
As part of the initiative, Midland Bank set up an information booth on the NSU campus from 22–24 September, offering students and faculty guidance on banking products and services.
