Seasoned banker Muhit Rahman has been appointed managing director of ONE Bank PLC, taking office on Sunday.

With more than 30 years of experience in corporate, institutional, and investment banking, Muhit has held senior leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank and American Express Bank. His expertise spans corporate and investment banking, financial markets, structured finance, capital markets, and strategic balance sheet management.

Before joining ONE Bank, Muhit served as managing director and head of financial institutions at Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh. In that role, he managed relationships with banks, non-bank financial institutions, the central bank, multilateral agencies, and public sector organizations. He also led the bank’s financial markets business, closing several landmark deals and introducing innovative products and solutions to the industry.

Muhit began his banking career at American Express Bank in 1995 and joined Standard Chartered in 2005. He holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and has completed executive and leadership programs at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, UC Berkeley, Columbia, and Insead.
