NBR Launches A-Challan System for Online Duty and Tax Payments

Written by The Banking Post

Dhaka, July 5 — The National Board of Revenue (NBR), in collaboration with the Finance Division, has officially launched the A-Challan system, enabling importers, exporters and their designated C&F agents to pay customs duties and taxes online, directly into the government treasury.

The system integrates NBR’s ASYCUDA World with the Finance Division’s IBAS++ platform, allowing taxpayers to make payments via:

💳 Internet banking, debit/credit cards

📱 Mobile financial services: bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Upay, mCash, TrustPay

🏦 Over-the-counter payments at 11,700 branches of 61 banks

Payments are instantly credited to the treasury, eliminating delays previously caused by the RTGS system. This upgrade allows 24/7, real-time payments from any location, speeding up both revenue collection and goods clearance.

On July 3, following training at Chattogram Customs House, the system went live, collecting over Tk 13 crore in revenue from 75 bills of entry on its first day. Earlier pilots were conducted at Kamalapur ICD and Pangaon Customs House.

From July 7, the A-Challan system will be operational at all customs stations nationwide. NBR expects the initiative to enhance transparency, improve fiscal discipline, and accelerate customs processing.
