The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has achieved its highest-ever quarterly collection, posting Tk 908.25 billion in revenue during the July–September quarter of FY2025–26, marking a 20.21% year-on-year increase, according to official data.

In the same period last fiscal year, the NBR collected Tk 755.55 billion, while collections stood at Tk 760.68 billion in FY2023–24 and Tk 686.35 billion in FY2022–23.

Among the three major segments, domestic VAT led the surge, contributing Tk 348.19 billion, up 29.74% from Tk 268.38 billion a year earlier. Income and travel taxes followed, climbing 18.26% to Tk 284.78 billion, compared to Tk 240.80 billion in the previous year.

Customs revenue from import and export activities also rose 11.74%, reaching Tk 275.28 billion, up from Tk 246.25 billion in the corresponding period of FY2024–25.

The NBR said all three key segments — VAT, income and travel tax, and customs — recorded all-time highs in the first quarter. The board credited the strong performance to expanded tax coverage, tighter compliance, anti-evasion efforts, and recovery of previously lost revenue.

In a statement, the revenue authority also lauded its officials for their “dedicated and hard-working efforts” in sustaining the momentum of national revenue growth.
