NRBC Bank successfully hosted a seminar titled ‘Islamic Economy: Building a Justice in Society Beyond Riba’ at its Training Institute on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The event featured Dr. Syed Mabroor Billah, Associate Professor at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Saudi Arabia, as the keynote speaker, according to a press release.
The seminar was attended by NRBC Bank’s top management, including Managing Director and CEO Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Deputy Managing Director and CFO Harunur Rashid, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Abdul Qayyum Khan, and Abdul Gafur Rana, Head of the Al-Amin Islamic Banking Division.
In his keynote address, Dr. Billah highlighted the growing prominence of Islamic banking as a viable alternative financial system worldwide, operating in over 80 countries and expanding at an average annual rate of 10–12%.
He emphasized the crucial role Islamic banks play in supporting Bangladesh’s economic development.
Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan reaffirmed NRBC Bank’s commitment to delivering Shariah-compliant banking services across all branches.
Through its Islamic banking window, the bank has mobilized deposits amounting to BDT 657 crore and invested BDT 454 crore, he said.
He underscored that NRBC Bank strives not only for profit but also aims to foster a just, transparent, and socially responsible financial ecosystem.
