Positive Growth in Market Capitalization: Up by BDT 42.16 Billion in One Week

Despite mixed movements in the index throughout the week, the market capitalization of the country’s premier stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by BDT 42.16 billion this week. However, the total turnover saw a slight decline.

This information was obtained from the DSE’s weekly update report.

At the end of the week, DSE’s total market capitalization stood at BDT 7.12 trillion, up from BDT 7.08 trillion the previous week—an increase of 0.60% over the week.

The DSE’s benchmark index, DSEX, rose by 51.38 points or 0.95%. The DSE-30 index increased by 24.58 points or 1.18%. However, the DSES index dropped by 2.08 points, or 0.18%.

Throughout the week, the total turnover on the DSE was BDT 41.94 billion, compared to BDT 42.97 billion the week before—a decrease of BDT 1.03 billion.

The average daily turnover was BDT 8.39 billion, which is BDT 205.8 million lower than the previous week.

During the week, shares and mutual fund units of 393 companies were traded on the DSE. Among them, 140 issues gained, 222 declined, and 31 remained unchanged.

At the end of the week, the Chittagong Stock Exchange’s (CSE) main index CASPI increased to 15,202.38 points, which is 1.25% higher than the previous week. The CSCX index rose by 1.42% to 9,325.74 points.

The CSE-50 index grew by 1.79%, and the CSE-30 index rose by 1.73%. The CSI index increased by 0.30%, now standing at 948.19 points.

However, CSE also experienced a drop in total turnover. This week, the total turnover on the CSE was BDT 818.1 million, which is BDT 98.7 million less than the previous week.

At the CSE, shares and mutual fund units of 332 companies were traded throughout the week. Among them, 134 gained, 180 declined, and 18 remained unchanged.
