Farmers in Madhukhali get access to credit, rewarded for timely repayments

Written by The Banking Post

Prime Bank PLC has disbursed agricultural loans to farmers in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur, expanding its push to support rural communities and strengthen the country’s farm sector.

The ceremony, held on August 26, brought together around 150 farmers. Eight of them were honoured with crests for maintaining a strong record of timely loan repayments — a gesture the bank said was aimed at inspiring others in the farming community.

Senior officials from Bangladesh Bank, the Department of Agricultural Extension, local administration, and Prime Bank attended the event.

Speaking at the program, Prime Bank’s Deputy Managing Director said agriculture is central to food security, employment and poverty reduction, adding that the bank is committed to farmers’ financial inclusion. The bank currently runs tailored loan schemes — Abad for crop production, Khamar for farm management, and Nabanna for purchasing agricultural machinery.

The latest disbursement, officials said, reflects Prime Bank’s continued effort to promote sustainable growth in agriculture by ensuring farmers’ access to timely credit.
