Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), hosted a seminar titled “Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking” at the IUB campus, aiming to strengthen financial literacy and youth empowerment.
The program was part of PrimeAcademia, the bank’s flagship campus initiative that offers one-stop banking solutions for academic institutions and their stakeholders nationwide.
More than 200 students from diverse disciplines participated in the seminar, which focused on responsible money management, employability skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership in a rapidly evolving economy.
Delivering the keynote, M. Nazeem A. Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Consumer & SME Banking at Prime Bank, stressed the need for students to develop practical skills such as digital literacy, communication, and presentation abilities in addition to academic achievements. He also engaged in an interactive Q&A session with students.
Senior bank executives Shaila Abedin and M. M. Mahbub Hasan highlighted the critical role of financial inclusion and youth engagement in driving sustainable economic growth. Representing IUB, senior faculty members including Professor Daniel W. Lund, Pro Vice Chancellor, shared perspectives on strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
A key highlight was the launch of the “Prime Youth Account”, a student-focused banking product available in both conventional and Islamic modes, designed to promote early financial responsibility. Students were also offered on-the-spot account opening facilities.
Prime Bank officials reaffirmed their commitment to financial literacy, inclusive growth, and youth-centric innovation, while both the Bank and IUB pledged to deepen future collaboration through skill development programs, research, and student-focused initiatives.
