Procurement of LNG, fertiliser approved

The government on Tuesday approved a number of proposals for the procurement of fertiliser, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and phosphoric acid to meet the local demand.

The Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Purchase at a meeting gave the approvals to this regard. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting held at the Bangladesh secretariat. Mr Ahmed joined virtually from abroad.

Under an approval, M/S TotalEnergies Gas & Power Ltd, United Kingdom will supply one cargo LNG to Petrobangla at a total cost of Tk 4.85 billion, where each unit of cargo will cost $11.549.

The meeting also approved the Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) to import 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser from MA’Aden, Saudi Arabia at a total cost of Tk 3.89 billion. Each tonne of fertiliser will cost $795 in this procurement.

Also the committee approved a proposal for the BADC to import 35,000 tonnes of MOP fertiliser from JSC “Foreign Economic Corporation (Prodintorg)” at a total cost of Tk 1.54 billion where each tonne of fertiliser will cost $361.

The BADC also given go ahead to import 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco at a total price of Tk 2.15 billion. Each tonne of TSP fertiliser will cost $585.33 in this procurement.

Also, the meeting approved a proposal to import fertiliser from China. The Banyan International Trading Limited, China will supply 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser at a total cost of Tk 3.89 billion where each tonne of fertiliser will cost $793.75 million.

Moreover, the Ministry of Industries has been given go ahead to import 20,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid for DAP Fertiliser Company Ltd from M/S Sun International FZE, UAE at a total cost of Tk 1.91 billion. Each tonne of acid will cost $779.50 in this procurement.

Also, the committee approved a proposal to import 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular fertiliser from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) at a total price of Tk 1.74 billion where each tonne of fertiliser will cost $474.

The meeting also approved a proposal for printing, binding, and supply of books for class one to five of Madrasa education at a total cost of Tk 1.27 billion.
