Remittance inflow through official banking channels has exceeded $2 billion in the first 21 days of September, reflecting a 24.3 percent year-on-year increase, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
Until September 21, Bangladeshi expatriates sent $2 billion, up from $1.63 billion during the same period last year. On September 21 alone, $128 million was remitted, while a combined $133 million came between September 18 and 20.
By September 20, the total stood at $1.90 billion, which crossed the $2 billion milestone the very next day.
So far in the current fiscal year (2025–26), the country has received $6.93 billion in remittances, compared to $5.77 billion during the same period a year earlier. In the July–September quarter of FY2024–25, remittance inflow also grew by more than 20 percent year-on-year.
The upward momentum has continued since the start of 2025, with March setting a historic record of $3.29 billion — the highest monthly remittance ever recorded in Bangladesh.
