Revenue collection by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) grew 24.33 percent in July, marking a strong start to the fiscal year 2025-26.

According to NBR data, the board collected Tk 272.49 billion last month, up from Tk 219.16 billion in July 2024. Despite the growth, the collection fell short of the fiscal target of Tk 301.11 billion by Tk 28.62 billion.

Breaking down the performance, the Customs Wing collected Tk 96.02 billion, up 17.52 percent; the VAT Wing collected Tk 113.52 billion, rising 32.45 percent; and the Income Tax Wing garnered Tk 62.95 billion, a 21.65 percent increase.

The data reflects strong momentum in revenue mobilisation across major streams, though NBR will need to accelerate collections to meet fiscal targets for the year.
