The government has approved a new trade body named Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry to strengthen bilateral economic ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A notification issued by the commerce ministry confirmed that the licence was granted under Section 28 of the Companies Act, 1994. The chamber must now register with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) within 60 days as a limited liability company, though without the word “Limited” in its name.
The body is also required to set up a permanent office, hold its first general meeting within one to three months of registration, and elect a full executive committee within six months. Officials said the chamber cannot undertake any activity against public or state interest.
Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have maintained close diplomatic ties for more than five decades. Riyadh remains the largest destination for Bangladeshi migrant workers and a key source of remittance, making the new trade chamber an important platform for expanding cooperation in both trade and labour markets.
