In alignment with Bangladesh Bank’s directive and the United Nations’ declaration, Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC celebrated International MSME Day 2025 across its branches, sub-branches, agent outlets, and corporate headquarters on 29 June 2025. The day was observed to highlight the critical role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the national economy and to encourage entrepreneurship.
The event was presided over by the bank’s Deputy Managing Director Mr. M. M. Saiful Islam, with Managing Director Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed attending as the chief guest. In his address, Mr. Mosleh Uddin reaffirmed the bank’s unwavering commitment to the development of the MSME sector and assured continued comprehensive support for entrepreneurs.
Held under the theme “SMEs: The Foundation of Development”, the ceremony honored two distinguished entrepreneurs for their innovation, leadership, and socio-economic contributions in the MSME space:
- Ms. Afsana Asif Shama, Founder & CEO of AXIS Bangladesh (Women Entrepreneur)
- Mr. Masrur Hossain Suhrit, Managing Director of iPage Bangladesh Limited (Startup Entrepreneur)
Among the notable attendees were prominent lyricist and creative entrepreneur Mr. Asif Iqbal, CEO of Fabric Lagbe Limited Mr. Md. Nazmul Islam, and 25 newly trained SME entrepreneurs under Bangladesh Bank’s SICIP program.
Also present were Shahjalal Islami Bank’s Additional Managing Director Mr. Imtiaz U. Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director Mr. Mostafa Hossain, divisional heads from the corporate office, and officials from the SME & Agricultural Investment Division.
This initiative by Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC is expected to inspire entrepreneurs in the MSME sector and further strengthen their contribution to the country’s sustainable economic growth.
